  • The Marengo and Marengo II projects are both projects are owned by PacifiCorp.

  • Vestas will replace the nacelles and rotors of the existing V80-1.8 MW turbines

Vestas has been awarded a contract from PacifiCorp to repower the Marengo I and Marengo II wind projects in Washington state. Marengo I is a 140.4 MW facility installed in 2007 and Marengo II is a 70.2 MW farm installed in 2008. Both projects currently operate Vestas V80-1.8 MW turbines on 67 meter towers. Vestas plans to replace the nacelles and rotors with the V100-2.0 MW platform, thus keeping the existing foundations and towers intact. Once complete, the repowering will result in a combined nameplate capacity of 234 MW and is expected to increase annual production by over 25%.

While this is the first repowering partnership between Vestas and PacifiCorp, more announcements are expected as part of the Energy Vision 2020 initiative. Turbine deliveries are set to begin the second quarter of 2019.
